Is it unmanly to have a tear in the eye?

Having double-done my duty in springing Ben the Hat from his in-laws on Boxing Day, I’ve only just got round to seeing this race (our planned trip to Market Rasen was called off due to frozen ground, I therefore emergency-found the next nearest sporting event: Cambridge United vs Stevenage Boro, which we enjoyed plenty – two penalties and a sending off in a blood and thunder local derby – and in any event I listened to the commentary of both the King George VI and Man City vs Stoke City on the new gizmo). Take a look at this piece* by Greg Wood from a Guardian blog on Kauto Star’s rating c/f the Great Arkle Himself. It’s very hard to believe any animal would have had Kauto twenty lengths in arrears at the finish of this exhibition of greatness. It’s also rather rare to see the second-placed horse given as ‘distant’ in a Grade 1 chase.

To answer your question – only if you are Cyclops himself otherwise no!

That Arkle was a funny looking sort, but the back end looks amazingly fit.

I think my dear son you were probably better listening to Man City – Stoke City on your new gizmo than watching it on TDT ( Spanish TV thingy ! )
A Happy New Year to all blog readers 🙂
