One from the archives

The clocks going back is no help to me – the second walk is already leading into the dark. I haven’t been up to the beach with the camera in the evening yet this year; how I ever had the nerve to let them go their own ways when Dylan performs with rabbits the way he does seems a mystery to me now (he’s banned to the daytime for the sake of my nerves these days). Still, there were some quieter moments, as this picture seems to prove.

Lovely to see another photo of Ollie. It’s been quite a year for you with all the dogs, in their various combinations!

Hi Geraldine, nice to hear from you! Yes, it has been quite demanding, especially with Lemon being an even bigger injury crisis than Ollie. It was only really when he got back fit that it emerged how much they didn’t get on, I think Dylan at least was standing off him while he was on the recovery list. They are strange creatures.

I bumped into Lemon two days ago – he looked as if he was really getting on fine in his new family, and only just about seemed to recognise me the ungrateful little wotsit!

Ollie was the most remarkable looking dog! I would put money on his having some Doberman (or similiar Germanic) genetic inheritance.

My dear departed Dobey X had that exact same tan inverted bib on his chest.

    Magnificant! Very touching, Stephen.
